Bethel Mennonite Church has an employment opportunity available to fill sometime after August 31, 2021.
This is an office management role to ensure that church operations are maintained in an effective, up to date, and accurate manner. During office hours, responds to inquiries from a wide variety of internal and external parties for the purpose of providing information, facilitating communication, and providing direction, as required. The position is salaried and permanent part time. This role provides administrative support to pastoral staff, church leadership, and, as required, all boards and committees.
Core Expectations Include:
a. Bulletin design, editing, production and distribution.
b. Worship materials Preparation: Power point/Shout media, Worship Flow, Sermon data entry, Music organization.
c. Updating Reader board
d. Collaborate with and coordinate activities of the facilities coordinator, or fulfill this role in absence of a facilities coordinator
e. Prepare and distribute accurate, monthly church calendar.
f. Participate in weekly staff meeting.
g. Record, deposit and audit donations. Forward information to the Treasurer on a weekly basis.
h. Prepare public communications, including frequent review and update of the webpage.
i. Taking minutes at various Board and congregational meetings
j. Coordinating, creating content for, and maintaining social media accounts in cooperation with the Social Media Coordinator
k. Staying informed of new or changing government regulations and helping to implement them as pertaining to our church life
l. Reaching out to congregation members to check in and receive updates on health, well being, or prayer requests
m. Occasionally finding volunteers for regular or one time events (e.g. funerals, Sunday Services)
n. Assisting in various tasks as requested by the pastoral staff
o. Develop and maintain beneficial relationships with denominational leadership and administrators at other churches
p. Work within bylaws, policies and procedures
q. Greeting and directing guests.
r. Responding to telephone enquiries and directing the calls appropriately.
s. Office supply monitoring and ordering
t. Facility oversight: Review all posted materials for appropriateness and relevance that are placed on bulletin boards and foyer publication tables. Maintain the appearance of entryway.
u. Maintain and update files, directory, and voice mail.
v. Reception and distribution of mail, e-mail and messages.
w. Arrange servicing of office equipment.
x. Administration of security system, keys and codes.
Job requirements include:
Experience: Operation of computer multimedia software (e.g. PowerPoint, ProPresenter); reception/greeting; facility scheduling; Correspondence; ordering.
Knowledge Base: Microsoft Office; Internet/e-mail; Advertising; Basic accounting; Research skills, Above average technological competence
Character/Personality: Friendly/receptive; Servant attitude; People skills; Approachable; Persuasive.
Spirituality: Active relationship with Jesus; Agreement with the Confession of Faith; Faithful reputation; Teachable attitude; Evidence of prayer; Confidential nature.

The hours are open for discussion and might be from 9:00 to 2:00 Monday through Friday, 9:00 to 3:00 Monday through Thursday or some other format. Depending upon work requirements, we may be able to discuss some working from home, if desired.
